Making it easier for assassins to put together a hit list

The Life Defense Act of 2012, sponsored by state Rep. Matthew Hill (R-Jonesborough), mandates that the Tennessee Department of Health make detailed demographic information about every woman who has an abortion available to the public, including her age, race, county, marital status, education level, number of children, the location of the procedure and how many times she has been pregnant. Each report would also have to include the name of the doctor who performed the procedure.

Wow, what a blatant violation of HIPPA. Since when did anyone think someone’s medical history was up for public display? Oh, that’s right, since the republicans started having a flagrant disregard of federal law, right to privacy and women’s rights.

It won’t pass, but I mean fucking really?

Mississippi trying to ban abortion for women who have embryos with detectable heartbeats

JACKSON, Miss. — Supporters of a bill that has passed in the Mississippi House and gone to the Senate say it would effectively ban abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.

A key provision would require doctors to search for a fetal heartbeat before performing an abortion and, if a heartbeat is found, would make going ahead with the procedure illegal. Physicians say a heartbeat can typically be detected at five to six weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of hearing it earlier if the doctor uses a medically invasive transvaginal ultrasound.

House Judiciary B Committee Chairman Andy Gipson, R-Braxton, says the bill would ban 90 percent of the abortions in the state because most women seek abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detectable.

Want to know why most women seek abortion after the heartbeat is detectable? BECAUSE THE PREGNANCY ITSELF ISN’T EVEN DETECTABLE UNTIL ABOUT 5 WEEKS IN. “6 weeks pregnant” = 6 weeks since last period = actually only 4 weeks since ovulation and conception. Amount of weeks between periods for women on average = 4.  How many weeks late a woman typically is by the time she even notices that she’s late = 1. This would leave exactly… maybe just a few days for the woman to go from learning shes pregnant to actually having the abortion. Days. In most clinics, you can’t just walk in and get an abortion on the spot. You have to set up an appointment for a time the clinic can do it. Most clinics don’t even preform abortions more than 2 days of the week. And did I mention that THERE IS ALMOST NOTHING TO SEE ON AN ULTRASOUND AT 5 WEEKS. I mean, just look:

That weird fleshy butterfly-shaped spinal column thing is the “baby” which is the size of a mustard seed. Technology is good enough now that it can detect the heartbeat of an embryo the size of a mustard seed. The very time it takes from learning you are pregnant to deciding that you definitely want an abortion to finding an open clinic to getting finances set up to actually getting to the appointment is the difference between a detectable heartbeat or not. This is making abortion illegal without technically making abortion illegal.

What this bill will really do if it passes the senate: overburden clinics on the outskirts of Mississippi.

Dear Mississippi House:

Reblog if you think anti-choicers should be required to donate sizable portions of their income to our underfunded foster care system, comprehensive sex education, and free birth control

Because… honestly

While they are at it, their taxes should also go towards abortion for low income women. If my taxes go for shit I don’t believe in, like say war, then theirs should go towards abortion. It’s only fair.

$230 dollars per year per person with income of $37,000 a year goes to funding wars in afganistan and iraq alone. Do I get to opt out of that? No. No I don’t. “Wahh, Boo, my tax dollars might go to things I don’t agree with!” Yeah. Join the fucking club.
